Ministry of Gender and Family received and attended to a total of 279 cases in the month of March 2017.
Violence against children
- A total of 142 cases were reported and attended regarding violence against children, which amounts to over 50% of the total cases during the month of March 2017
- The most frequently reported cases in this category involved incidents of sexual abuse of children with 50 reported cases out of which 40 victims were girls.
- Other forms of violence against children included 41 cases of neglect; 26 cases of physical abuse; 23 cases of emotional abuse; 1 case of bullying and 1 case of child abandonment.
Children in conflict with the law
- A total of 10 cases were reported to the Ministry regarding children in conflict with the law.
- Reports include 1 caseof drug possession; 1 case of stealing; 1 case of physical assault and aggression and 1 cases of vandalism and deliberate damage to property.
Behavioral problems of children
- A total of 17 cases were reported and attended regarding behavioral problems of children
- Reports include, 10 cases of temper tantrums; 3 cases of running away; 3 cases of perpetrators of harassment and 1 case of perpetrators of bullying
Child rights violations
- A total of 8 cases were reported to the Ministry regarding child rights violations in the month of March 2017.
- Cases reported included, 4 cases of refusal to access to healthcare; 2 cases of violation of right to safe drinking water and electricity; 1 caseof violation of right to education and 1 case regarding birth registration.
Gender based violence and domestic violence
- A total of 44 cases involving gender based violence and domestic violence were also reported and attended which amounts to over 15% of the total cases during March 2017.
- From the reports received, the most frequently reported cases involved forms of physical violence and abuse with 21 reported cases out of which 19 victims were women.
- Other cases reported in this category include 10 cases of emotional or verbal abuse; 4 cases of sexual abuse; 2 cases of neglect and 2 cases if intimidation
Care and support for elderly and people with disabilities
- A total of 11 cases were reported and attended in this category in March 2017.
- Cases reported included, 7 cases regarding care and support for elderly and 4 cases regarding care and support to disabilities.
Self-harm and suicidal behavior
- A total of 6 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported and attended.
