Ministry in partnership with ARC Commences “Exploring Art” Programme at Kudakudhinge Hiya

The Ministry of Gender and Family in partnership with Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has commenced a special programme “Exploring Art” at children’s shelter Kudakudhinge Hiya in Villimale’ currently home to 66 children between 10 and 18 years.

The main focus of the ‘Exploring Art” is to develop children’s technical and creative knowledge and to improve their individual talent and skills. The three month programme includes weekly classes focusing on areas such as painting such as composition of landscapes, seascapes and perspective drawings and introduction to pencil drawing, symmetry drawing, colors and making sketches, basics of drawing. “Exploring Art” is also specially designed to encourage children to gain inspiration from their surroundings and to integrate art with fun activities such as creating characters from paintings.

The Ministry wishes to express appreciation to ARC for organizing this programme to enhance the creative development of children under State care. The “Exploring Art” programme is an activity initiated under the MoU signed by the Ministry and ARC on 14 December 2016.
