Ministry signs Memorandum of Understandings with 3 companies to provide children living in shelters with more opportunities for their development and wellbeing

Ministry of Gender and Family has today, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three companies to provide children under state care with better care and support for their growth and development.

With the increase in babies and toddlers being taken into State care, the Ministry partnered with Island Aviation Services Ltd. and Mookai Hotels to sponsor 2 additional care workers to work for a period of 1 year in Fiyavathi, children’s shelter in Hulhumale’, which houses 94 children below 10 years.

The Ministry also signed a MoU with Centurion Plc. to conduct a recreational programme for children living in Kudakudhinge Hiya, Villimale’. Through this partnership, Centurion Plc. will organize monthly fishing trips for over 66 children between 10 years and 18 years.

The Ministry wishes to thank Island Aviation Services Ltd., Mookai Hotels and Centurion Plc. for partnering with the Ministry to enhance the lives of children living in shelters. The Ministry hopes to expand collaboration with government organizations, private sector and civil society to provide children with more opportunities for their development and wellbeing.
