Cases Reported to and Attended by the Ministry in March 2021

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended to a total of 215 cases in March 2021.

 

Violence against Children:

  • A total of 84 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children in March 2021.
  • The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of neglect, of which 27 cases were reported during this period.
  • Other forms of violence against children include 18 cases of sexual abuse, 17 cases of physical abuse, 13 cases of witness to domestic violence, 4 cases of emotional abuse, 3 cases of victims of bullying and harassment, 1 case of exploitation and 1 case of victims of cyber bullying.

Behavioral problems:

  • A total of 14 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioral problems in March 2021.
  • Reports include 3 cases of running away, 1 case of refusal to attend school, and 1 case of perpetrators of bullying and harassment.

Child rights violations:

  • 1 case of refusal of access to education was reported to and attended in this category in March 2021.

Children in conflict with the law:

  • A total of 4 cases of this category were reported to and attended in March 2021.
  • Reports include 1 case of physical assault or aggression and 1 case of theft.

 

Family Issues:

  • A total of 27 cases were reported to and attended in this category in March 2021.
  • Reports include 14 cases of custody or access, 10 cases of parenting issues and 3 cases of child maintenance.

 

Gender based violence and domestic violence:

  • A total of 47 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended in March 2021.
  • The most frequently reported cases in this category involve 22 cases of physical abuse.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve 19 cases of emotional or verbal abuse, 2 cases of sexual abuse, 2 cases of sexual harassment, 1 case of negligence and 1 case of stalking.

Care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities:

  • A total of 23 cases were reported to and attended in this category in March 2021.
  • Reports include 21 cases of care support for persons with disabilities and 2 cases of care and support for elderly.

Self-harm and suicidal behavior:

  • 15 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported to and attended in March 2021.

Children fostered and reintegrated:

  • 3 children were reintegrated with families and 1 child was taken to State Care in March 2021.
  • 3 children (turned 18) were reintegrated to the society with employment during March 2021.
  • There are a total of 222 Children under State Care as of March 2021.
