Children at Kudakudhinge Hiya completes First Semester of the Multimedia, Web Designing and Skills Training Course

Children living in Kudakudhinge Hiya have completed the first semester of the Multimedia, Web Designing and Skills training course organized by the Ministry of Gender and Family in collaboration with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

A special ceremony was held at Kudakudhinge Hiya yesterday, to showcase the progress made by the children during the course.  The ceremony was attended by Minister of Gender and Family H. E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki, and officials from MNDF, Muhiyudheen School, Ministry and Kudakudhinge Hiya.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Zenysha highlighted that she has always believed in the potential of children living in Kudakudhinge Hiya to succeed and that she was greatly encouraged to see the positive impact of the course on their self-esteem and confidence. In addition, Minister Zenysha expressed appreciation to MNDF, for their role in conducting the successful programme.

Speaking at the event, MNDF Warrant Officer Grade 2 Mohamed Yaameen, in-charge of leading the programme, stated that the rapid progress made by the children of Kudakudhinge Hiya is notable compared to similar programmes conducted by MNDF in various Atolls across the Maldives. He also expressed confidence that the children had the ability to advance further in this field.

The child participant, who delivered the vote of thanks, expressed appreciation for the opportunity on behalf of all participants and highlighted their determination to succeed, in spite of their difficult family backgrounds.

The programme, which commenced in April 2017 has been accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority as a certificate level 3 course. The main areas covered in the course include, “Applying Effects and Animation”, “CorelDRAW”, “Adobe Photoshop” and “Adobe Premier Pro”. A total of 22 designs by children studying in Grades 7 and above, were showcased at the ceremony. At present, 66 children aged 10-18 years live in Kudakudhinge Hiya in Villimale’.
