Cases Reported and Attended by the Ministry in June 2017

Ministry of Gender and Family received and attended to a total of 162 cases in June 2017.

Violence against children

  • A total of 83 cases were reported and attended regarding violence against children, which amounts to 51 percent of the total cases received and attended in June 2017.
  • The most frequently reported cases in this category involve incidents of child neglect. A total of 28 cases were reported in this category.
  • Other forms of violence against children include 22 cases of physical abuse, 18 cases of sexual abuse, 9 cases of emotional abuseand 2 cases of child abandonment.

Children in conflict with the law

  • A total of 9 cases were reported and attended regarding children in conflict with the law in June 2017.
  • Reports include 1 case of physical assault or aggression, 1 case of robbery and 1 case possession of sharp weapons.

Behavioral problems of children

  • A total of 7 cases were reported and attended regarding behavioural problems of children in June 2017.
  • Reports include 2 cases of perpetrators of harassment, 2 cases of runaway, 1 case of perpetrators of bullying and 1 case of refusal to attend school.

Child rights violations

  • 2 cases regarding refusal for access to education for children were reported and attended in June 2017.

Gender based violence and domestic violence

  • A total of 31 cases involving gender based violence and domestic violence were reported and attended in June 2017, which amounts to 19 percent of the total cases.
  • The most frequently reported cases involve forms of physical violence and abuse, with a total of 10 reported cases where 7 victims were women.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve 6 cases of intimidation, 5 cases of emotional or verbal abuse, 4 cases of neglect and 2 cases of sexual violence or abuse

Care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities

  • A total of 4 cases were reported and attended in this category in June 2017.
  • Reports include 2 cases regarding care and support to persons with disabilities and 2 cases regarding care and support for elderly.

Self-harm and suicidal behavior

  • A total of 4 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported and attended in June 2017.
