Ministry of Gender and Family in Partnership with Anantara Resorts Commences Internship Programme for Children from Kudakudhinge Hiya

The Ministry of Gender and Family in partnership with Anantara Resorts has commenced an internship programme for children from Kudakudhinge Hiya. The 1 (one) year orientation and training programme offered by Anantara Resorts through their CSR initiative “Minor Hope”, was inaugurated by the First Lady, H. E. Madam Fathimath Ibrahim. The Minister of Gender and Family, H. E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki and senior officials from the Ministry also attended the ceremony held at Anantara Dhigu Resort today.

Two children above 16 years from Kudakudhinge Hiya will take part in this year’s internship programme which was developed with the aim of providing skills training for children from shelters and guiding them towards employment prospects in the Travel and Tourism sector.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Zenysha highlighted the importance for children under state care to be reintegrated into society and expressed sincere gratitude to Anantara Resorts for their initiative. She also expressed hope that other resorts and companies will offer similar opportunities for children under state care.
