Ministry signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort to provide internship opportunities for children from Kudakudhinge Hiya

Ministry of Gender and Family has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort to provide internship opportunities for children living under State Care in Kudakudhinge Hiya.

At a special ceremony held at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort, General Manager Mr. Stefano Ruzza signed the MoU on behalf of the Resort and Programme Manager, Ms. Jala Zuhury signed the MoU on behalf of the Ministry.

Through this MoU, children between the ages of 16 to 18 from Kudakudhinge Hiya will be provided the opportunity to participate in an internship programme at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort for a duration of one year, and facilitate employment opportunities for children who wish to pursue a career in the field of hospitality and tourism.

Minister of Gender and Family, H. E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki, Vice President of Hilton Asia Pacific Operations, Mr. Daniel Welk and officials of the Ministry and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Minister Zenysha noted that there are currently over 130 children living under State Care, and highlighted the importance of providing such opportunities to equip children with necessary skills to prepare them for the work environment and life outside the shelters, in addition to providing care and protection.

The Ministry has previously signed a similar MoU with Anantara Maldives and through this partnership, one girl and one boy from Kudakudinge Hiya are currently working as interns at the resort.
