Ministry Commences its Fourth “Capacity Building for Social Workers” Programme

Ministry of Gender and Family has commenced its fourth “Capacity Building for Social Workers” programme, in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives.

This training programme, which aims to develop and enhance the skills of social services workers at the Ministry, Family and Children Service Centres (FCSCs) and shelters operating under the Ministry, will be held at Champa Central Hotel, from 25 February to 01 March 2018.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of State for Gender and Family, Dr. Marium Jabyn noted the instrumental role of social service, to empower individuals through shaping human behavior and social mechanisms, and to guarantee human rights and social justice.

Highlighting the responsibilities of social service workers, Dr. Jabyn also noted the need to maintain and uphold the quality of social services in a fair and impartial manner.

A total of 20 participants will attend this programme. Relevant experts from Government and civil society institutions are scheduled to conduct sessions during this five-day training.

The Ministry has trained a total of 53 Social Service Workers under the “Capacity Building for Social Workers” programme during the course of 2017.
