Minister of Gender and Family observes facilities for vulnerable groups in Oman

Minister of Gender and Family H.E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has observed facilities at a children’s shelter, a centre for children with disabilities and a women’s organisation, during her official visit to Oman from 29 – 31 October 2017.

At her visit to the ‘Welfare Association of Disabled Children’, Minister Zenysha observed educational, health and life skill programmes targeted for children with disabilities between the ages 6 and 14. She also visited the Childhood Care Centre to acquire an understanding of their unique concept and services provided for vulnerable children.

In addition, the Women’s Association of Oman shared information about their trainings and awareness programmes to empower women, during Minister Zenysha’s visit to the organization.

During the visit, Minister Zenysha met with the Minister of Social Development H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al-Kalbani, and shared information about the work of the Ministry of Gender and Family. The Ministers also discussed collaboration between the two countries on promoting the rights of children, women, elderly and persons with disabilities.

Minister Zenysha further met with the Under Secretary of Diplomatic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Maldives and Oman.
