Ministry conducts Health Screening Programme for Children in Shelters

The Ministry of Gender & Family in partnership with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has conducted a health screening programme for children living in Kudakudhinge Hiya, Amaan Hiya and Fiyavathi Shelter.

The health screening programme is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide children in shelters with the necessary medical treatment and care required to ensure their health and wellbeing. A total of 80 children below 10 years living in Fiyavathi shelter and 57 children between 10 and 18 years living in Kudakudhinge Hiya and Amaan Hiya received heath screening through this programme.

The Ministry wishes to express sincere appreciation to MNDF for facilitating this programme and for their continuous support and assistance to ensure the wellbeing of children living in shelters. The Ministry hopes to expand collaboration with government organizations, private sector, and civil society to enhance the lives of children in State Care. A fully equipped medical room has also been established in Fiyavathi Shelter this December.
