Sri Lankan para swimming champions arrive in Maldives to participate in activities to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Three para swimming champions from Sri Lanka and an accompanying official have arrived in Maldives to take part in special activities organized by the Ministry of Gender and Family to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The three para swimmers are military veterans who sustained life-changing injuries during their service and have since then, represented Sri Lanka in national and international competitions and won several accolades.

The Ministry’s activities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will commence tomorrow at 15:45hrs at the Artificial Beach. Swimmers from the Maldives National Team will also take part in the events, which will include special programmes for children with disabilities and their parents.

The Ministry invites the public to participate in the events to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
