In a special ceremony held today, Ministry of Gender and Family has signed an MOU with the sponsors to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2016. The sponsors who signed the MOU include, Mega Global Air Services, Swimming Association of Maldives, Personal Computers, New Lagoons, Sea Sports, Print Lab, Next Innovation and Life Guard Association of the Maldives. In addition, the partners for the event include, Embassy of Sri Lanka in Maldives, MWSC, STELCO and PSM.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been celebrated annually on 3 December around the world since 1992. This year’s theme is ‘Achieving 17 SDG goals for the future we want – greater inclusion for persons with disabilities’. To achieve this goal the Ministry plans to conduct a special swimming activities with the participation of persons with disabilities.
In addition to that, national swimmers of Maldives will participate in a swimming challenge with the 3 swimming champions of Sri Lanka. The event will be held on 15:45 of 3rd December 2016 at Artificial Beach.
