Ministry of Gender and Family has today commenced a Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) training programme for Gender Focal Points in collaboration with UN Women. Speaking at the opening session of the 3 day training programme, Minister Zenysha emphasized that gender mainstreaming requires concerted efforts by all stakeholders.
A total of 25 Gender Focal Points participated in the training that includes information on Gender Responsive Budgeting, and addressing gender equality issues more effectively through public financial management.
Gender Focal points were appointed in 2015 to effectively implement the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and to develop programs and projects across all sectors in a more gender responsive manner. GRB seeks to assist in effectively implementing CEDAW, Beijing Platform for Actions and Sustainable Development Goals.
The training programme held at Mookai Hotel from 9 to 11 August 2017 is being facilitated by UN Women’s GRB Specialist Ms. Yamini Mishra and UN Women’s Project Officer, Dr. Bhumika Jhamb.
