An office space has been provided to the Disability Council of Maldives at the Ministry of Gender and Family, by Minister Zenysha Shaheed Zaki.
At a meeting held today, Minister Zenysha thanked the Council for their efforts and expressed hope that the Council’s work will be further strengthened and that the rights of people with disabilities would be further enhanced by the joint efforts of the Ministry and the Council.
The Disability Council was established in 2010 under the Disability Act 08/2010. The seven member Council reports to the Minister of Gender and Family and its secretariat is maintained by the Ministry.
