Minister Zenysha Participates in the 61st Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women

Minister of Gender & Family H.E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki participates in the 61st Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) held from 13 to 24 March 2017. The theme of this year’s session is, “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.”

Speaking at the conference, Minister stated the crucial role of Maldivian women in different sectors of work at an international level and highlighted that the Maldivian Government believes firmly that society cannot make progress unless women have equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities in the community.

The Commission is one of the largest annual gatherings of global leaders, NGOs, private sector actors, United Nations partners and activists from around the world focusing on gender equality, empowerment of all women and girls, and elimination of gender discrimination, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
