Ministry conducts Professional Development Training Programme for Health and Social Workers of three Atolls

Ministry of Gender and Family has conducted a “Professional Development Training on Service Provisions for the Elderly and Victims of Abuse” for health and social workers of three atolls.

A total of 24 health and social workers from Vaavu Atoll, Meemu Atoll, and Faafu Atoll participated in the 5-day programme held in Faafu atoll Nilandhoo, with the support of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Speaking at the closing ceremony held at Faafu Nilandhoo Hospital, Minister of State for Gender and Family Dr. Marium Jabyn stated that the programme was designed by the Ministry to train health and social workers on recent legislative developments and standards on service provisions for elderly and victims of abuse. She also expressed hope that the participants would continue to use the knowledge and experience gained during the training programme and strengthen their services.

The programme, held from 11 to 15 March, provided information on provision of services to senior citizens and procedures for providing protection to children, women, elderly and persons with disabilities.
