Ministry of Gender and Family concludes Capacity Building Training Programme for Social Service Workers

Ministry of Gender and Family has concluded a five day Capacity Building Training Programme for Social Workers today, in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives. The Programme was aimed at improving the services provided by the Ministry by enhancing the knowledge and skills of social service workers.

Addressing the participants at the closing ceremony, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Gender and Family Ms Aminath Shifana highlighted the important role played by social workers in attending to vulnerable individuals and families within the community. She also expressed hope that this training programme will help improve the services provided by social workers for women, children, elderly and persons with disabilities who require special protection and support.

A total of 27 participants took part in the training programme, which was held from 10 to 14 September at Champa Central Hotel, for social service workers from the Ministry and Family and Children’s Service Centers (FCSC) based in the atolls. The sessions were conducted by officials from Government institutions and relevant organizations.
