Cases Reported to and Attended by the Ministry in July 2022

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended to 204 cases in July 2022.

Violence Against Children:

  • A total of 92 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children in July 2022.
  • The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of neglect and of which 27 cases were reported during this period.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve, 15 cases of physical abuse, 11 cases of sexual abuse, 11 cases of commercial exploitation/child labor, 10 cases of emotional abuse, 7 cases of witness to domestic violence, 6 cases of blackmailing, 2 cases of exploitation of children by extremist groups, 2 cases of exploitation and 1 case of victims of cyber bullying.

Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence:

  • A total of 36 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended in July 2022.
  • The most frequently reported cases involve 12 cases of physical violence/abuse.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve 12 cases of emotional abuse/verbal abuse, 6 cases of intimidating, 2 cases of rape, 1 case of sexual violence/abuse, 1 case of withholding/damage to property, 1 case neglect and 1 case of economic and financial abuse.

Family Issues:

  • A total of 30 cases were reported to and attended in this category in July 2022.
  • Reported cases include 12 cases of access to child, 8 cases of parenting issues, 8 cases of custody/access and 2 cases of maintenance.

Self-Harm and Suicidal Behavior:

  • A total of 8 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported to and attended in July

Care and Support for Elderly and Persons with Disabilities:

  • A total of 24 cases were reported to and attended in this category in July 2022.
  • Reported cases include 14 cases of care and support for persons with disabilities and 10 cases of care and support to the elderly.

Behavioral Problems:

  • A total of 11 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioral problems in July 2022.
  • Reported cases include 4 cases of running away, 2 cases of others, 2 cases of perpetrator of harassment, 1 case of refusal to attend school, 1 case of aggressive, oppositional or anti-social behavior and 1 case of delinquent behavior.

 

Children in Conflict with Law:

  • A total of 2 cases was reported to and attended in this category in July 2022.

Child Rights Violations:

  • A total of 1 case was reported to and attended in this category in July 2022.

Children Under State Care, Fostered and Reintegrated:

  • There are a total of 197 children under state care as of July
  • 4 children were taken into state care, 1 children were reintegrated with family, and 1 child was fostered.
