Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended to a total of 257 cases in October 2020.
Violence against Children:
- A total of 135 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children in October 2020.
- The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of negligence, of which 43 cases were reported during this period.
- Other forms of violence against children include 38 cases of sexual abuse, 24 cases of physical abuse, 15 cases of witness to domestic violence, 9 cases of emotional abuse, 4 case of exploitation, 1 case of victims of cyber bullying and 1 case of victims of bullying and harassment.
Behavioral problems:
- A total of 12 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioral problems of children in October 2020.
- Reports include 1 case of refusal to attend school.
Child rights violations:
- A total of 2 cases were reported to and attended in this category in October 2020.
- Reports include 1 case of denial of birth registration and 1 case of refusal of access to healthcare/ medical.
Children in conflict with the law:
- A total of 9 cases of this category were reported to and attended in October 2020.
- Reports include 2 cases of theft.
Family Issues:
- A total of 36 cases were reported to and attended in this category in October 2020.
- Reports include 18 cases of custody or access, 10 cases of parenting issues and 8 cases of child maintenance.
Gender based violence and Domestic violence:
- A total of 40 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended in October 2020.
- The most frequently reported cases involve 20 cases of physical abuse.
- Other cases reported in this category involve 11 cases of emotional abuse, 3 cases of intimidation, 2 cases of sexual abuse, 2 cases of rape and 2 cases of negligence.
Care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities:
- A total of 16 cases were reported to and attended in this category in October 2020.
- Reports include 12 cases of care support for persons with disabilities and 4 cases of care and support to the elderly.
Self-harm and Suicidal behavior:
- 7 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported to and attended in October 2020.
Children under State care, Fostered and Reintegrated:
- There are total of 206 Children under State Care as of October 2020.
- A total of 3 children were taken to State Care and 1 child was reintegrated with family in October 2020.
