Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended to a total of 168 cases in August 2019, which is a decrease of 21 percent and 30 percent compared to the total cases received and attended in July and June 2019.
Violence against children
- A total of 101 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children in August 2019.
- The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of sexual abuse, of which 40 cases were reported during this period.
- Other forms of violence against children include 23 cases of negligence, 23 cases of physical abuse, 8 cases of emotional abuse, 3 cases of victims of bullying and harassment, 2 cases of victims of cyber bullying and 2 cases of witness to domestic violence.
Child rights violations
- 02 cases of acquiring NID card/ passport/ birth certificate were reported to and attended regarding child rights violations in August 2019.
Family issues
- A total of 14 cases were reported to and attended in this category in August 2019.
- Reports include 6 cases of custody or access, 5 cases of parenting issues and 3 cases of child maintenance.
Children in conflict with the law
- A total of 3 cases were reported to and attended in this category in August 2019.
Behavioural problems of children
- A total of 4 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioural problems of children in August 2019.
- Reports include 3 cases of running away and 1 case of refusal to attend school.
Gender based violence and domestic violence
- A total of 25 cases involving gender based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended in August 2019.
- The most frequently reported cases involve forms of physical abuse and emotional or verbal abuse, of which 8 cases were reported under each category during this period.
- Other cases reported in this category involve 3 cases of controlling behavior, 2 cases of sexual abuse, 2 cases of rape and 2 cases of intimidation.
Care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities
- A total of 10 cases were reported to and attended in this category in August 2019.
- Reports include 9 cases regarding care and support to persons with disabilities and 1 case related to care and support for elderly.
Suicidal behaviour/ thoughts
- 9 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behaviour were reported to and attended in August 2019.
