Ministry of Gender and Family has today, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Anantara Resorts to provide internship opportunities for children living in Kudakudhinge Hiya. Through this partnership, Anantara Resorts will provide a 1 year internship programme and guide children from Kudakudhinge Hiya towards job opportunities in the travel and tourism sector.
Speaking at the event held this afternoon at Anantara Dhigu Maldives, Minister of Gender and Family H. E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki highlighted the rapid increase in the number of children taken into State care over the past few years and stressed the importance of support from the community to eliminate discrimination and provide children under State care with equal opportunities for a better future.
Minister Zenysha also expressed sincere appreciation to Anantara Resorts, and noted that this partnership is an important step in the Ministry’s work with children in shelters, particularly to prepare them for reintegration back to the society.
The Ministry hopes to expand collaboration with government organizations, private sector and civil society to provide children under State care with similar opportunities for their development and wellbeing.
