Ministry of Gender and Family has conducted its “Ranveyla” campaign activities for senior citizens in all islands of Faafu Atoll.
As part of the campaign activities, conducted from 11 to 20 March, awareness sessions were held in Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo, Dharanboodhoo, Feeali, Bilehdhoo and Magoodhoo, focusing on increasing participation of senior citizens within the family and community, enhancing care and assistance provided for them, and improving their health and wellbeing. A total of 95 senior citizens participated in the sessions. The Ministry also collaborated with the hospital and health centres of Faafu Atoll to conduct health screening sessions in all islands of the atoll, through which a total of 133 senior citizens underwent screening.
Through Ranveyla Campaign, a total of 149 youth also took part in special interactive sessions organized by the Ministry, aimed to bridge the intergenerational gap between senior citizens and youth.
In addition, eight health and social workers from the atoll were trained through the “Professional Development Training” workshop, held by the Ministry from 11 to 15 March in Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo, with assistance from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
“Ranveyla” campaign was launched by the Ministry of Gender and Family in August 2016. The activities and programmes of this nation-wide campaign have now been held in all islands of Baa, Lhaviyani, Dhaalu, and Meemu Atolls.
