Ministry of Gender and Family establishes the Maldives Child Protection Database (MCPD)

The Ministry of Gender and Family has established the Maldives Child Protection Database (MCPD) to strengthen response system and data sharing across the national child protection system. This marks the commencement of utilization of this database across all 16 Family and Children’s Service Centers within the atolls.

The MCPS, as a multi-sectorial child protection data platform will essentially link partner agencies and enables effective communication and information sharing between stakeholders. The database can refer, mange cases, establish case relationships, monitor case outcomes and case worker activities, manage documentation, messaging and undertake audit trails of reported cases. The platform is capable of real time data collection and facilitates generation of disaggregated data.

The Ministry of Gender and Family Hon. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki wishes to express her gratitude to UNICEF Maldives and the Maldives Police Services and appreciates the invaluable commitment, continued support, technical guidance tendered by these partners.

The Ministry takes this opportunity to note, that the system, is already used to log reports and cases of violence against children in the Family and Child Protection Department, Malidves Police Service and regional police center since 2010. We are proud to join this wider network to prevent and protect children across the Maldives.
