Cases Reported and Attended by the Ministry from January to June 2017

Ministry of Gender and Family received and attended to a total of 1448 cases from January to June 2017.

The most number of cases were reported and attended from Male’ City and Kaafu atoll combined, which is a total of 400 cases. Additionally, 39 cases from Haa Alifu atoll, 36 cases from Haa Dhaalu atoll, 20 cases from Shaviyani atoll, 16 cases from Noonu atoll, 23 cases from Raa atoll, 27 cases from Baa atoll, 38 cases from Lhaviyani atoll, 40 cases from Alifu Alifu atoll, 46 cases from Alifu Dhaalu atoll, 16 cases from Vaavu atoll, 10 cases from Meemu atoll, 20 cases from Faafu atoll, 21 cases from Dhaalu atoll, 41 cases from Thaa atoll, 38 cases from Laamu atoll, 25 cases from Gaafu Alifu atoll, 99 cases from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 42 cases from Fuvahmulah City and 97 cases from Addu City were reported and attended.

Violence against children

  • A total of 680 cases were reported and attended regarding violence against children during this period.
  • The most number of cases in this category were reported from Male’ City and Kaafu atoll combined. A total of 278 cases were reported in this category.
  • In addition to that, 12 cases from Haa Alifu atoll, 22 cases from Haa Dhaalu atoll, 8 cases from Shaviyani atoll, 12 cases from Noonu atoll, 18 cases from Raa atoll, 17 cases from Baa atoll, 25 cases from Lhaviyani atoll, 27 cases from Alifu Alifu atoll, 33 cases from Alifu Dhaalu atoll, 6 cases from Vaavu atoll, 7 cases from Meemu atoll, 15 cases from Faafu atoll, 18 cases from Dhaalu atoll, 26 cases from Thaa atoll, 24 cases from Laamu atoll, 17 cases from Gaafu Alifu atoll, 66 cases from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 25 cases from Fuvahmulah City and 41 cases from Addu City were reported and attended. 

Children in conflict with the law

  • A total of 79 cases were reported and attended regarding children who are in conflict with the law in this period.
  • The most number of cases in this category were reported from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll. A total of 15 cases were reported the atoll.
  • In addition to that, 2 cases from Haa Alifu atoll, 2 cases from Haa Dhaalu atoll, 7 cases from Shaviyani atoll, 1 case from Noonu atoll, 1 case from Raa atoll, 2 cases from Baa atoll, 2 cases from Lhaviyani atoll, 9 cases from Male’ City and Kaafu atoll combined, 2 cases from Alifu Alifu atoll, 2 cases from Meemu atoll, 1 case from Faafu atoll, 7 cases from Thaa atoll, 4 cases from Laamu atoll, 2 cases from Gaafu alifu atoll, 4 cases from Fuvahmulah City and 14 cases from Addu City were reported.

Gender based violence and domestic violence

  • A total of 213 cases were reported and attended regarding gender based violence and domestic violence during this period.
  • The most number of cases in this category were reported from Male’ City and Kaafu atoll combined. A total of 74 cases were reported in this category.
  • In addition to that, 22 cases from Haa Alifu atoll, 11 cases from Haa Dhaalu atoll, 5 cases from Shaviyani atoll, 2 cases from Noonu atoll, 1 case from Raa atoll, 8 cases from Baa atoll, 10 cases from Lhaviyani atoll, 8 cases from Alifu Alifu atoll, 10 cases from Alifu Dhaalu atoll, 10 cases from Vaavu Atoll, 1 case from Meemu atoll, 4 cases from Faafu atoll, 3 cases from Dhaalu atoll, 5 cases from Thaa atoll, 6 cases from Laamu atoll, 6 cases from Gaafu Alifu atoll, 13 cases from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 10 cases from Fuvahmulah City and 24 cases from Addu City were reported and attended.

Care and support for persons with disabilities

  • A total of 79 cases were reported and attended regarding care and support for people with disabilities in this period.
  • The most number of cases in this category were reported from Male’ City and Kaafu Atoll combined. A total of 28 cases were reported in this category.
  • In addition to that, 2 cases from Haa Alifu atoll, 2 cases from Raa atoll, 1 case from Lhaviyani atoll, 2 cases from Alifu Alifu atoll, 2 cases from Alifu Dhaalu atoll, 1 case from Thaa atoll, 3 cases from Laamu atoll, 4 cases from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 1 case from Fuvahmulah City and 10 cases from Addu City were reported and attended.

Care and support for the elderly

  • A total of 31 cases were reported and attended regarding care and support for the elderly in this period.
  • The most number of cases in this category were reported from Male’ City and Kaafu Atoll combined. A total of 11 cases were reported in this category.
  • In addition to that, 1 case from Haa Alifu atoll, 1 case from Haa Dhaalu atoll, 1 case from Noonu atoll, 1 case from Alifu Alifu atoll, 1 case from Alifu Dhaalu atoll, 2 cases from Thaa atoll, 1 case from Laamu atoll, 1 case from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 2 cases from Fuvahmulah City and 8 cases from Addu City were reported and attended.
