Ministry of Gender and Family has concluded a Skills Development Training Programme for Community Social Groups (CSGs) in Kaafu Atoll. The programme was a follow-up to the orientation and training programmes carried out for the CSGs of K. Atoll from January to March 2017, in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Maldives Police Service and UNICEF Maldives.
The programme was designed to empower CSGs to implement their roles and responsibilities and improve the level of support provided to vulnerable groups at the island and community levels by developing strategies, situation analyses and action plans based on individual needs of islands.
A total of 27 participants from CSGs of all nine islands of Kaafu Atoll, representing island councils, education service providers, health service providers, social workers, Police, Women’s Development Committees and NGOs, took part in the 3-day training programme.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Gender and Family Mr. Mohamed Zahid highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaborations in building a well-rounded social protection system, and expressed hope in working together in providing support for vulnerable groups.
