Cases Reported to and Attended by the Ministry in April 2022

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended to a total of 184 cases in April 2022.

Violence against Children:

  • A total of 103 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children in April 2022.
  • The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of sexual abuse, of which 30 cases were reported during this period.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve, 29 cases of physical abuse, 16 cases of neglect, 14 cases of witness to domestic violence 10 cases of emotional abuse.

Gender based violence and Domestic violence:

  • A total of 31 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended in April 2022.
  • The most frequently reported cases involve 17 cases of physical violence/ abuse.
  • Other cases reported in this category involve 7 cases of intimidating, 4 cases of emotional abuse/ verbal abuse, 1 case of sexual violence/ abuse, 1 case of stalking, and 1 case of rape.

Family Issues:

  • A total of 21 cases were reported to and attended in this category in April 2022.
  • Reports include 11 cases of custody access, 10 cases of parenting issues and 4 cases of exploitation.

Care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities:

  • A total of 11 cases were reported to and attended in this category in April 2022.
  • Reports include 9 cases of care and support for persons with disabilities and 2 cases of care and support to the elderly.

Child rights violations:

  • A total of 4 cases were reported to and attended in this category in April 2022.
  • Reports include 4 cases of violating right to safe drinking water/ electricity.

Behavioral problems:

  • A total of 4 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioral problems in April 2022.
  • Reports include 2 cases of temper tantrums, 2 cases of running away.

Self-harm and Suicidal behavior:

  • A total of 7 cases regarding self-harm and suicidal behavior were reported to and attended in April

Children in conflict with law:

  • A total of 3 cases was reported to and attended in this category in April 2022.
  • Reports 1 case of physical assault/ aggression.

Children under State care, Fostered and Reintegrated:

  • There are a total of 201 children under state care as of April 2022.
  • 3 children were taken into state care and 2 children were reintegrated with family.
