Minister of Gender and Family Ms. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has participated in the activities held for children living in shelters to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha.
In this regard, Minister Zenysha accompanied children from Fiyavathi and Kudakudhinge Hiya shelters during their visit to the Winter Park and participated in different activities at ‘Rasrani Bageecha’ this Wednesday. Minister Zenysha also spent time with the children during their visit to the Scoop Ice Cream Shop.
The event was organized with assistance from Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Hotels and Resort Construction Private Limited, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Water sports activities were also organized for the children, in collaboration with Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) and Beach Club Maldives. In addition, a visit was also arranged for the children to view MNDF Coast Guard Ship “Ghaazee”.
Minister Zenysha also celebrated this year’s Eid ul-Fitr with children living in shelters, through the various activities organized by the Ministry.
A total of 140 children are currently under State Care, out of which Fiyavathi Shelter houses 89 children aged below 13 years, while Kudakudhinge Hiya and Amaan Hiya is currently home to 51 children between the ages 13 – 18.
