Ministry partners with NCA to conduct arts programmes for children living in shelters and children with disabilities

Minister of Gender and Family, Ms. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki, has visited State Institutions for children & elderly in Malaysia during her visit to Kuala Lumpur. The Institutions included a shelter for children who require protection, a correctional facility for juvenile offenders, an elderly care facility as well as an activity centre for senior citizen.

Ministry of Gender and Family has today, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Centre for Arts (NCA) to conduct programmes in the field of arts for children residing in shelters and children with disabilities.

Through this partnership, NCA will begin regular art and music lessons for children between 6 years and 10 years residing at Fiyavathi in Hulhumale’ and for children above 10 years living in Kudakudhinge Hiya, Villimale’. The Ministry will also work in collaboration with NCA to conduct special arts programmes for children with disabilities.

The Ministry wishes to thank NCA for partnering with the Ministry to conduct these programmes for children under state care and children with disabilities. The Ministry hopes that these programmes can help children enhance their sense of creativity, discover new interests and talents and also be a form of therapy and self-expression.
