Child-friendly interview rooms have been established in the Family and Children’s Service Centers (FCSC) of Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo and Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo.
The two child-friendly interview rooms, established by the Ministry of Gender and Family with the support of UNICEF Maldives and the Maldives Police Service, were officially opened by the Minister of State for Gender and Family Dr. Marium Jabyn.
The establishment of child-friendly rooms in the atolls are part of the efforts by the Ministry to create an enabling environment to interview child victims of violence, abuse and neglect and strengthen related investigations. The facilities, designed to cater for children of different age groups, aims to minimize the trauma experienced by children during the investigation process.
The establishment of child-friendly interview rooms are currently being undertaken in all remaining FCSCs.
