First Lady of the Maldives H.E. Madam Fathimath Ibrahim and First Lady of Malaysia H.E. Datin Paduka Rosmah Mansor paid a visit to Fiyavathi shelter in Hulhumale’ this morning. The First Ladies were received at the shelter by the Minister of Gender and Family H.E. Zenysha Shaheed Zaki.
During the visit, the First Ladies toured Fiyavathi shelter and met with the children living in Fiyavathi, who showcased their handicrafts and artwork. The First Ladies also enjoyed a performance by the children and viewed a cultural display and video report on the shelter. At the event, PERMATA and International Youth Centre of Malaysia also made a generous contribution to Fiyavathi Shelter.
Minister Zenysha thanked the First Ladies for visiting Fiyavathi Shelter and spending time with the children. Minister Zenysha also acknowledged with appreciation the training opportunities from PERMATA towards capacity building of staff working at Fiyavathi.
At present, a total of 149 children live under State care, out of which 94 children below the age of 12 years reside in Fiyavathi shelter established in February 2016.
