Ministry of Gender and Family in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives has commenced a Capacity Building Training Programme for social service workers today. The programme aims to improve the services provided by the Ministry by enhancing the knowledge and skills of social service workers to identify and respond to vulnerable groups including children, women, elderly and persons with disabilities who require special protection and support.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of State for Gender and Family, Dr. Marium Jabyn highlighted the responsibilities of social service workers and the importance of familiarization with new legislations and regulations. In addition, she expressed hope that this training programme would be instrumental in further developing the skills and capabilities of social workers and ensuring high quality services.
A total of 26 participants will take part in the 5-day training programme being held at Champa Central Hotel from 10 to 14 September. Participants include social service workers from the Ministry and 16 Family and Children’s Service Centers (FCSCs) in the atolls. Relevant experts from government and civil society institutions are also scheduled to conduct sessions in the training.
