Ministry of Gender and Family today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Maldives Pension Administration Office to support the work of the Ministry’s Ranveyla Campaign for the protection and promotion of the rights of the elderly in society.
The MOU was signed by Deputy Minister Leesha Mohamed from the Ministry of Gender and Family and Director of Corporate Affairs Sujatha Haleem from the Maldives Pension Administration Office, at a special ceremony held at the Islamic University, to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons.
Ranveyla Campaign launched on 14 August 2016, aims to increase the participation of elderly persons within family and community, enhance care and assistance provided to them, and improve their health and emotional well-being. The nationwide awareness campaign includes awareness sessions and health screening for senior citizens as well as interactive sessions for youth to bridge the intergenerational gap between the elderly and youth. Ranveyla campaign activities have been conducted in all the islands of three atolls in the country.
