Ministry of Gender and Family has today concluded the second batch of the training programme on capacity building of social service workers, in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives. The programme aims to improve the services provided by the Ministry by enhancing the knowledge and skills of social service workers to identify and address challenges faced in responding to cases of child abuse and domestic violence.
A total of 26 participants took part in the 5 day training programme. Participants include social service workers from 14 Family and Children’s Service Centers (FCSCs) in the atolls and the Ministry, as well as Staff from Children’s Shelters Fiyavathi and Kudakudhinge Hiyaa.
Speaking at the opening the programme held last Saturday, the Minister of State for Gender and Family, Dr. Athaulla Ahmed Rasheed highlighted the instrumental role of social workers to act as agents of change within the community, and expressed hope that the services provides by social workers would be more strengthened.
The Ministry wishes to thank UNICEF Maldives for the continued support in improving the skills of social service workers, and assistance in protecting and promoting the rights of children. Similar training programmes are being organized to enhance Ministry’s services provided towards those who need social protection.
